Hyssop Essential Oil
Hyssop has an ancient reputation and was used to purify sacred places. In aromatherapy it is principally used through inhalation for coughing, and respiratory and digestive complaints. Externally it has a long history of use for sore joints, healing bruises, sores, and earache. According to the British Pharmacopoeia it is a specific for bronchitis and the common cold. It has further uses for breathing difficulties and as a general nerve tonic, to regulate blood pressure, and to induce calm in states of nervousness or hysteria.

Characteristics:
A colorless to pale yellowy-green liquid with a sweet, camphoraceous topnote and warm spicy-herbaceous undertone. It blends well with lavender, rosemary, myrtle, bay, sage, clary sage, geranium, and citrus oils.

Safety:
Non-irritant, non-sensitizing; the oil is moderately toxic due to the pinocamphone content. To be used only in moderation and avoided during pregnancy and by epileptics. Contraindicated in cases of high blood pressure.
